W.Long stemmed from a company owned and run by the current Managing Director's father. Incorporated in 1977 the company remains a wholly owned and run family business, operating from a modern purpose built 3 acre site 12 miles north east of London City.

It was the demand for construction in the late 70's / early 80's which supplied the real impetus for the organisation that exists today. Recognising that there was a real market requirement for good quality, reliable earthmoving equipment the company invested heavily in construction equipment and prides itself in having most modern, well maintained fleet in region today.

The company has a wealth of experience in every aspect of earthmoving and general civil engineering groundworks and employs a 197 (subject to change) strong workforce. Works undertaken include new housing and industrial developments, new construction and upgrade of existing.

W.Long Limited also operates a subsidiary called W.Long Haulage Limited which is responsible for the operation of a fleet of ...., both locally and throughout the United Kingdom. Whilst W.Long Haulage Limited takes care of the in-house movement requirements W.Long Ltd's earthmoving equipment, its core business is the transportation of equipment for many major projects within industry.
